Welcome Home… is taking a while.  Why?  Because among everything else there just isn’t enough time in the day.  So who want’s new music?
Here’s the deal.  In reviewing demo’s and what not there have been some neat ones I would like to share.   I have sorted through the demo’s and found a collection of them that will not appear on the upcoming Welcome Home… record.

The point of all this?  A record of demos from the past 10 years will be released called “Return” and it will be mostly music that you haven’t heard before.  I’ll keep you updated on a release date but it should be soon.

So some of you may know that Nanopico has been around for a while(well14 years now this month to be exact officially).   Some of you may not know exactly where we came from (I know, shocking).  So before the news here’s the story.

Back in 1997 Mike and Paul recorded a demo called “Piss Off” (yes the one that is claimed to be the first Nanopico record).    Well they recorded 7 tracks, but never released it officially. Yeah, there where some copies made (maybe like 15 total over the years) and given to friends and what not, but never released.  The funny part about this is that the name of the band on the original demo was Chicken Shit.   So as jamming continued the band Nanopico formed from what was Chicken Shit (that makes the story funny right?).  We’ve always considered the demo to be Nanopico and nothing is going to change that.  So time goes on they write more songs and more albums are made and what not.  Now skip ahead to 2011. “March Of The Egads” is re-mixed and released again (making it available for the first time in 12 years) and “We’d Call It Unplugged, But We Would Get Sued” is recorded and released.  That make 2 Nanopico records available for you to purchase and enjoy.  Let’s back up a little now.  Back in 2009 Mike had this idea to release a Nanopico boxed set that contained “Piss Off,” “To Hell With It, My Soul Ain’t For Sale,” “March Of The Egads,” “The Sadness And The Pain” and “Abduction Ceremony.”  So pretty much the entire discography plus some extra demos and such not. So, the re-mixing and prep for that began,  (this is why we have the remixed version of “March Of The Egads”) but there were problems as some of the master tapes are gone.  Not fun.  Well now it’s 2012 and guess what some master tapes have been found so big news item number 1 is “Piss Off” will finally be officially release for the first time almost 15 years after it was recorded.  Although there were 7 songs recorded originally the final released version of “Piss Off” will only contain 4 songs because 1 song is way to similar to a Weezer song so that one got cut, the other two were kind of more jokes when they were recorded and were never really part of what we were so those got cut.    So now your wondering when you can get your meaty little hands on this? Soon, like next week March 19th 2012 soon.  Exciting!  You will be able to download it via our BandCamp site initially.  And it will be available for purchase on CD within the next month through Weightless Planet Records.  There maybe a cassette release too, but that hasn’t been decided or worked out.

Now on to big news item 2.   “Welcome Home…” is actually progressing, although slowly.  So we might actually see it released this year.

Big News Item 3.  Maybe a show in May.  That’s all we know.  Might even be as a full band rather than acoustic.

Big News Item 4.  The box set mentioned above is again moving forward.  So as we get stuff remixed for it we will release albums individually.  I know what your going to say.  But if I can buy them individually why would I want the box set?  Well I would say don’t buy them individually just buy the box set as it will be the same recordings (that is if you want them all).  Also the box set will include a bonus of some demos and unreleased items that we had put together as “Classics” back in 2001, but didn’t feel like attempting to release, but it will be in the box set only.

So that’s our big news.  Hope every one is having a fine spring now and keep tuned in for more updates.

There may even be a live album (recorded at that show) coming up soon too.

Nanopico is appearing live for the first time in 9 years for special benefit for Gabbie Bark who has Spinal Muscular Atrophy. So we decided to come out and help. (this may just be the start of a whole string of shows).
